Shawnee and baby Holden Maertin were home for a short visit the past week. Also home for a visit was Kyle and Jacquie Hedrick and daughter, Lillienne.

Twenty years ago this week, it was reported that JoAnn Brewster was honored as outstanding clubwoman when members of the Canton South Junior Guild met at the Canton Woman's Club for its annual Christmas get-together on Dec. 14.

Thought for the week: After 40, life is just a physical maintenance job.

The East Canton AARP Chapter installed new officers at their Dec. 20 meeting held at the Foltz Community Center. Deborah Martin was elected as president, and Donna Wells was elected as vice president. The secretary is Cheryl Slye, the treasurer is Pat Monnet and the assistant treasurer is Ann Merryman. The AARP chapter meets every month except in January. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. In February, they will play Bingo. You do not have to be a member to visit. Meet your fellow senior friends, enjoy a delicious lunch and stay to play Bingo.

Women's Memoir Group meets at the Foltz Community Center every Tuesday from 11 a.m-noon. Put pen to paper or computer keyboard to printing, and write about your memories of long ago or something that happened last week. Your words could be a treasure to behold by your children and grandchildren, and for generations to come. Classes are free. For more information, call 330-488-1672.

When school is closed due to the weather, all activities at the Foltz Community Center are cancelled as well.

Be sure to stop by the Foltz Community Center and see the beautiful display of craft items in the display case in the hallway.

A note to all you seniors who attend Senior Flex: All classes were cancelled on Monday, Dec. 26 and will start back up on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017.

Start your new year off exercising with the Silver Sneakers from the Louisville YMCA. All seniors are welcome. The classes are free and go from 9-10 a.m. at the Foltz Community Center. Weights, straps and balls are available for your use. No one is pushed to do more then feel comfortable doing.

A man called up the fire department and said "You have to come to my house right away! It's on fire, Hurry!" The dispatcher asked, "How do we get to your house?" The man replied, "Don't you have those big red trucks anymore?"
