The Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department's fundraising efforts for a new station house have reached $500,000.
The architect and engineers are currently working on the final prints and the department is hopeful for a late spring or early summer ground breaking for the new station.
The department would like to thank everyone for their continued support as the dream is getting closer to reality.
The MVFD reminds citizens that for the months of April and May, outdoor open burning and prescribed fires are prohibited between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. The ban includes burning of yard waste, trash and debris, even in a proper burn barrel.
Even outside the time and date restrictions, any person conducting a burn must obtain landowner permission, remain with the fire while it is burning, and take all reasonable precautions to prevent the fire from escaping.
