These streets were made for chalking, and that's just what they'll do. Because this August's First Friday is Chalk The Walk. So, come on down to the Canton Arts District from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4 and enjoy the talent of local chalk artists.
Along with local chalk artists, it's Hall of Fame weekend, and we're ready to celebrate. The Essential Alternatives will allow every customer to draw a football to determine their discount. Cultured Coffee and Waffles will debut new Hall of Fame sundae waffles, along with the dumpster waffle and six taps of craft beer to go with it.
The entire Arts District will be lined with chalk drawings from more than 25 local chalk artists. Cantonology will be displaying kids' chalk art projects along with 20% off all chalkboard items. Silo Arts Studio will also have chalkboard wall drawing battles and fun music, as well as Colette's Vintage having their "Chalk Up the Savings Event". Spend $50 for a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate. Stop over to IKON Images to watch local chalk artists transform their sidewalk and then view their current exhibit, The Wiles of a Woman | Somewhere Between Real and Imagined.
First Friday means free family movie at the Canton Palace Theatre. At 7:30 p.m., grab a seat and watch The Lego Movie. Admission is free, but a ticket is required. Pick up your tickets ahead of time at the palace, throughout the Canton Arts District, and at the Canton Museum of Art.
Take a stroll through the galleries and studios to see the latest exhibits: The Hub Art Factory is premiering "Hall of Favorites", artwork curated by some of Canton's most well-known collectors.
