The Sandy Valley Drug Awareness Initiative (SVDAI) will host the Yoga to be Free! event on Sunday, Aug. 6, at 6 p.m. near the Sandy Valley High School stadium.

This event was created to raise awareness about the seriousness of drug abuse and addiction in Stark County.

The goal of the event is to raise funds for SVDAI in order to continue drug free presentations to school children and community organizations.

"Our hope is that Stark County will come out to get their yoga on at Yoga to be Free! because coming to together is the best medicine to fight the opioid epidemic," said Leanne Vucovich, president of Sandy Valley Drug Awareness Initiative. "We have a serious crisis on our hands with this and we want to do our part to educate our community."

Those interested in the event should bring their own yoga mat to the Sandy Valley High School stadium which is located at 5130 OH-183, Magnolia, OH 44643. There will be some extra yoga mats provided for attendees. Those who wish to attend can pay the $10 entrance fee at the door.

"There will also be a chance to win a yoga prize pack that includes a mat and water bottle if you come out to the event," said Vucovich. "We will use the funds raised from the event, to provide drug free presentations to our kids and adults. Together we can stomp out this epidemic."

The Sandy Valley Drug Awareness Initiative was created to promote a drug free community by mobilizing diverse partnerships to plan and implement strategies that reduce the stigma that surrounds addiction, and increase public awareness through education of the harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use.
