Little Sandy Creek Ruritan Club held its year end dinner meeting on Dec. 20 at Patty's Place Family Restaurant near East Canton, which was colorfully decorated for the holiday season.
The get-together included "ladies night" and the installation of officers. The dinner was held to celebrate the conclusion of another successful year.
Secretary Dick Beck opened the evening with group singing of Christmas Carols and God Bless America. Treasurer Dick Lotze then asked the blessing for the 54 members and guests present.The buffet dinner featured chicken, roast beef and cabbage rolls and dessert of a variety of pies. Take-home favors were small bags of candy and nuts. Those with a lucky water glass received the table centerpiece.
Following the tasty dinner, President Dick Clapper welcomed everyone and conducted business which featured the annual financial report.
Special guests introduced were former national President Dave Freshley and his wife, Ann.
Roll call, minutes and treasurer reports were approved as read by Beck and Lotze, respectively. Beck reported that 80 fruit baskets were packed and delivered to the elderly and shut-ins of the area for the holidays. A thank-you was extended to all who helped with this year's project.
The December birthdays of Neal Rayner, Denny Snyder, Bill Tuttle, Sr. and Steve Patrick were remembered in song.
Dave Freshley gave brief remarks and commended the club on another successful year to his installing the following officers for 2017: Dick Pero, president; Chuck Bucher, vice president; Dick Beck, secretary; Dick Lotze, treasurer; Bob DeMate, Denny Snyder and Gene Saeger, directors; Dick Clapper, past president.
The meeting adjourned with the Pledge to the Flag.
