The Lady Cardinals allowed just five field goals as it opened up the Division III Sectional Tournament with a 54-18 win over IVC foe Newcomerstown.
Sandy Valley's swarming defense forced 28 turnovers.
Karlee Altimore led the winners with 20 points and five rebounds. Alana Hill added 10 points, six boards and three steals; and Julianna Borsellino had six points.
Altimore scored nine first-quarter points as the Lady Cardinals led 13-0 after the opening eight minutes of play.
The hosts led 15-0 before the Lady Tigers scored their first point of the night. Sandy Valley continued to dominate play, taking a 28-7 lead into halftime, and a 48-11 advantage after the third quarter.
The Lady Cardinals were 22-of-44 from the field and 7-of-15 from the line, while Newcomerstown was 5-of-33 from the floor and 7-of-13 from the free-throw line.

With a sectional title on the line, the Lady Cardinals played Garaway tough for all four quarters, before succumbing to the second seed 48-37.
The Lady Pirates led 17-13 after the opening eight minutes of play, 25-21 at halftime, and 36-26 heading into the final stanza.
No individual stats were available at press time.
With the loss, Sandy Valley ends it season with an 8-16 record.
