Sandy Valley's youth wrestling program has its first ever Ohio Youth Wrestling Association State Champion.
Competing at Akron Firestone High School, sixth-grader Dominic Hoffarth won the state title, dominating the 90-pound bracket. In the finals, Hoffarth beat Lake's J.T. Chance 6-2.
Four matmen have qualified for the Ohio Athletic Committee State Wrestling Championships at the Covelli Center on March 25-26.
Making the trip to Youngstown are Bam Moyer (90), Hoffarth (90), Brandon Boggs (80), Dominic Prosperi (55) and Micah Hoffarth.
D. Hoffarth finished first at districts, Prosperi was second, Boggs finished third, and Moyer and M. Hoffarth placed fourth.
