Sandy Valley's Connor Finnicum had a strong showing in the throws at the 2017 Inter-Valley Conference Track and Field Championships, finishing second in the shot (43'4.75) and seventh in the discus (105'9).
The 4x800 consisting of Michael Lewton, Aleks Rymer, Bronson Frank and Isaac Knight placed second with a time of 8:50.64.
Finishing third were Rymer in the 800 (2:12.27), Kinzy Swiger in the discus (116'2), and Francesco Borsellino in the shot (42'4.75).
Sixths went to Lewton in the 1600 (5:03.32); and the 4x400 (4:11.54) consisting of Isaac Knight, Rymer, Lewton and Jordon Finlayson.
Placing seventh were Rymer in the 400 (54.97), and Brendan Obradovich in the long jump (16'9.5).
Eighths went to Nash Monroe in the 1600 (5:07.59), Lewton in the 3200 (11:45.21), and Dean Freitag in the high jump (5').
East Canton ran away with the title with 217.5 points. it was followed by Ridgewood with 125, Garaway with 93.5, Hiland with 66, Newcomerstown with 51, Sandy Valley with 50, Malvern with 29, Strasburg with 12 and Tusky Central with 12.
The Cardinals will take part in the district tournament at West Holmes High School on Thursday and Saturday, May 18 and 20.
The top four in each event will advance to the regional meet at Athens High School on on May 25 and May 27.
