Senior Jake Bellamy pulled off a rare four-peat as he won the 40th annual East Canton Cross Country canoe race for the fourth year in a row.
This year Bellamy teamed up with freshman Alex Yarian to win with a combined time of 2:21:25. The race was held at the Canal Fulton canoe livery with 14 runners paddling down the canal in pairs and racing back approximately five miles. The combined times of the canoeing and running were added together.
Finishing second was the team of senior Gabe Jones and sophomore Mason Cain and third place went to senior Tony Cappillo and freshman Joey Bellamy.
Senior Josh Conrad and freshman Kyle Crable place fourth, followed by junior Colt Hemphill and sophomore Jacob Waters in fifth, sophomore Demetrius Snellenberger and sophomore Nick Wines in sixth; and junior Kyeem Newell-Owens and freshman Anthony Cilano in seventh.
Snellenberger had the best overall running time at 32:09.
"I am extremely pleased at the efforts by the whole team and hope they will continue to work hard," commented Head Coach Lee Sternberg.
