Fischer receives new contract from Sandy Valley

MAGNOLIA -- The Sandy Valley Local Board of Education during its Feb. 27 meeting issued a new five-year administrative contract to district superintendent David Fischer. The contract will commence Aug. 1, 2018. Fischer first became the district's superintendent in 2013.

Sandy road crews patching streets

SANDY TWP. -- Road Supervisor Gary McKinney told trustees during a March 6 meeting that road crews continue to patch potholes throughout the township. McKinney recently received 3 tons of HMP cold patch, which can be stored and used when needed.

PIKE TWP. -- Township trustees concentrated on road issues at their regular meeting on Feb. 21. They agreed to bid out two projects. One is the Stinewood allotment. This is a blacktop project for skin and a 1 1/2 inch overlay. The other is for chip and seal for 6.4 miles.
